Kingston Calssic Second at Ascot

It was a top effort from Kingston Classic on Sunday. He settled the best in running that he's ever done here in WA and finished well, just to be beaten by a better horse-one that's rapidly becoming noticeable having now won his last four starts. There was quite a weight pull for Zambane and that probably made the difference in favour of the younger horse.

Trainer Alan Mathews and jockey Pat Carbery are both of the opinion that KC can win staying events now that his brain is functioning and he continues to race this well. With that in mind, we'll give him one or two more runs and then spell him with the intention of bringing him back to try and win some of the feature winter staying events at Belmont Park such as the Winter Cup, Helena Vale Cup, Metropolitan Hcp, St Leger, etc. Alan also hinted that if successful with this plan, he'll also consider targeting the 2007 Perth Cup IF he's got a stayer that can settle in his races....

Look for him running on Saturday week in another 1800m.
