Girl in a Storm Wins at Pinjarra

"Miss Consistency" Girl In A Storm continued on her merry way when she won first up at Pinjarra this afternoon.

Having her first start for new trainer Michael Pateman, the mare was always in command down the straight 1000m and ran out a strong winner with plenty in reserve according to jockey Willie Pike. It was the first starter and the first winner that Michael Patemen has trained for the Belhus team, as it was the first "Belhus" winner for Willie Pike too!

Despite being a midweek meeting, quite a few syndicate members were on course to cheer her home and give her a well earned pat after the race!

It's worth noting that Girl In A Storm has now finished in the first three placings at her last EIGHT starts and has now put together back to back wins. Let's hope she can go on and make it a hat trick!

Ascolta Runs Second at Ascot

Serheed three year old Ascolta produced a fine effort when fighting out the finish of his event at Ascot today, eventually going down by the shortest possible margin-a nose!

With just a moderate pace on for the early stages of the race, Ascolta sat in second position until challenging for the lead turning for home. He tried valiantly to get by the pacemaker but the sectionals told and he failed by a whisker!

Trainer John Price and connections were bouyant after the race and looking forward to Ascolta's next two runs which will determine if he's a chance to run in the prestigious WA Derby at Ascot on Saturday April 8th.
