Baron Orczy Fires in a Protest - and wins

Baron Orczy continued on his winning way at Belmont Park this afternoon albeit in contraversial fashion as he had to win the race on protest!

After getting the sit behind the leader Expedition, Baron Orczy began the chase to the line, however as the leader shifted off the fence, he was cleary impeded on two occasions. As the eventual margin was just a short neck, the Stewards, after considering all evidence, decided to uphold the protest, second against first, and declared Baron Orczy the winner!

The win brought cheers from the crowd who had supported the Baron into favourite. The win means the flashy chestnut has now won his last two starts and he is surely destined for better things to come.

Baron Orczy sets new class record at Belmont Park

The real Baron Orczy stood up to be counted at Belmont Park today when he won a 1000m class 6 event against older horses by two lengths-eased down and breaking the class record in the process!

Ridden an absolute copy book race by Willie Pike who had him perfectly positioned throughout, the striking chesnut-without a doubt the best looking horse on the track-was always in command and always looked the winner, especially after turning for home. Willie didn't even need the persuader as he guided The Baron to the easiest of wins.

Trainer John Price turned the ex Syndey-sider out looking an absolute picture and will now aim the gelding towards Saturday class races...with an eye on the big $500,000 sprint treble at the next Ascot Summer Carnival.
